Surface Pro 5 to sell out in Australia

The 2017 Surface Pro (5) is coming to the end of its life, with the new Surface Pro (6) soon to be released.

On the run: Surface Pro 5 to run out, be replaced by Surface Pro 6

2017 Surface Pro 5

The Surface Pro (5) debuted as the successor to the Surface Pro 4. However, the Pro 5 came without the 5 in the marketing materials, making itself known as the Surface Pro, without a number. This may have given Microsoft some flexibility in releasing a model that could stay on sale a longer or shorter time, depending on the release of the next model in the range.

Microsoft kept themselves busy with the release of the Surface Laptop, Surface Dial, new Surface Pen, various keyboard accessories, a Surface desktop keyboard, with and without a fingerprint reader, but stayed silent on an update to the Surface Dock.

Sell Out

The Surface Pro (5) is expected to reach sell out by the end of March, with various retailers in Australia offering discounts of 10% to 15% to clear final stock, ahead of the release of the new Surface Pro 6. Retailers in other countries will follow with varying discounts to sell remaining stock.
