Apple HomeKit devices to launch at CES, arrive by March 2018

Apple HomeKit-powered devices like smart door locks, thermostats, speakers, cameras, CCTV, lights, automated blinds, automated garage doors, and more, will be launched by partners at CES in January 2018, and arrive by March 2018.

Partners in Apple's HomeKit ecosystem will launch a range of devices, that can all talk to each other via HomeKit, and customers will be able to creates 'scenes' in the iPhone and iPad, enabling a series of events to be triggered at the push of a button, or in some cases, automatically on a schedule, or automatically when triggered.

Imagine...

Imagine coming home, and your iPhone crosses the digital barrier in Apple Maps, realising that you're home. Then it can trigger a HomeKit scene, to open your garage, unlock your front door, turn on a light, set the heating or cooling, turn on a coffee pot, the TV, and pre-load Netflix.

Alternatively, when you walk past a sensor in your hallway, you could have the hallway light turn on, play your recently-downloaded music in the den, and turn the hallway light off when you're gone.

Partners

We can expect new and updated HomeKit devices from various Apple partners, which can be found here.

Until next time,
